My philosophy centers around the belief that underlying personal issues often contribute to the challenges that bring individuals to seek counseling. Recognizing this, I work closely with individuals to address not only conflicts within partnerships and parent-child relationships but also other areas of concern such as job stress, employment struggles, and unresolved childhood issues.
I specialize in helping clients navigate relational issues, mood disorders, depressive disorders, and various forms of anxiety. I understand that negative thinking can sometimes hinder personal growth. To support my clients in transforming their negative thought patterns, I have developed a Cognitive Re-Framing Worksheet, which serves as a valuable tool for collecting data throughout the week.
My counseling career has provided me with unique insights into the diverse range of issues that individuals and couples face. I began by helping individuals cope with addictions at Loudoun County Mental Health, where I educated clients and their families about the disease model of addiction and the interplay between physical, spiritual, and psychological aspects. After LCMH I was part of several group practices. In 2021 I sold Atlantic Counseling Group, in which I was one of the owners. The following year I decided to take some time off from counseling. In September 2023 I leased an office in Leesburg, VA, and have returned to counseling as a solo practitioner.
I hold a Master of Science in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University of MD, a program that integrates spiritual principles with psychological foundations. This comprehensive education equips me to address the complex dimensions of my clients' lives and guide them toward healing and growth.
